Dear Mr. Nieman and Mr. Foley:

This e-mail confirms my conversation today with Mr. Nieman.

As part of our ongoing effort to improve the access that participants in the Alaska Air Group, Inc. Alaskasaver Plan, the Alaska Airlines, Inc. COPS, MRP and Dispatch 401(k) Plan and the Horizon Air Industries, Inc. Savings Investment Plan (the "Plans") have in connection with the solicitation for the Alaska Air Group, Inc. 2006 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, we have worked with ADP to establish a fax channel for participants to submit the Challengers' Voting Instruction Form.

Participants in the Plans wishing to submit the Challengers' Voting Instruction Form may do so via facsimile sent to 631-254-7622.  Challengers' Voting Instruction Forms submitted via this fax number must be received by ADP no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on Monday, May 15, 2006.  Any Challengers' Voting Instruction Forms received after that time will not be counted.

Only the latest instructions received by ADP as of the deadline above will determine the participant's vote - all previous instructions will be disregarded.  

It must be noted that the fax number identified above should be used by participants in the Plans only for submission of the Challengers' Voting Instruction Form.  Alaska Air's Voting Form should be submitted via the channels described in our letter dated April 17, 2006.
